Eating Out: Beach House at South Bank

After hanging out with dinosaurs and eating at Vegerama, we headed back into South Bank and stopped off at Beach House because we heard they had vegan ice cream.

I had been to this venue a couple of years before, when it was a frozen yoghurt place, and they had two vegan flavours. Beach House has moved in, but kept the froyo machines in the wall. Six out of the eight flavours were vegan. They also have a toppings bar, but a lot of the things in there were not vegan.

I got a bowl with four flavours of ice cream. You pay by weight, so be careful! I got strawberry, peach, watermelon and chocolate. The chocolate was amazing, very rich and dark tasting. Yum! The peach was also really nice and fruity as well. The strawberry tasted a bit too much like fake strawberry flavour, which was sad because strawberry is one of my favourite flavours and it is hard to find strawberry ice cream that is vegan! Finally, the watermelon one was a bit odd... it tasted like a watermelon lolly I used to eat when I was younger... possibly Nerds?

Beach House also has a cabinet full of raw desserts. Of course, raw desserts are fully of coconut oil, my nemesis, so I didn't get anything. But Ashleigh and Bec got a peanut butter cup and a salted caramel slice.

Beach House also has smoothies, juices and superfood bowls. According to their website there are also salads, sandwiches and soups, but we saw no evidence of any of these either in the cabinets or on the signed menus.

I foolishly left a jumper on the floor. Dim Sim was pleased.

  3. I get excited when there is vegan ice cream! There is a pay by weight frozen yogurt near me, they have like 10 flavors + 2 sorbet (vegan) flavors. I always toss the mochi bits on it. Awesome.

    1. Ice cream is so much fun, I am always excited to find it! Especially to find one that isn't coconut based, as they tend to make me feel a bit ill.

    1. A good idea... but a dangerous one as well. ;) So easy to 'accidentally' end up spending way more than you thought. Hee hee.

Good warning! One I wish I would have been told the first time I went to a Whole Foods hot bar haha ;p

The vegan soft serve looks so good! I like the different flavours. Sounds like a good place to eat.
