VeganMoFo 2019 #21: S is for September 18 (Eating Out: Dinosaur edition)

I've been to September 18 a few times before, but given that it is pretty far away from me, it's not somewhere that is on my regular radar. But in the most recent school holidays, I braved a Jurassic World dinosaur display in a shopping centre up that way, a bit further in fact, so it seemed sensible to pop in there on the way home from lunch.

I love BBQ steamed buns, and they do a good one, so of course I had to some of them.

I decided to try the satay chicken, after checking that it didn't have chilli in it and being told it wasn't spicy. Reader, that was a lie. It definitely had something in it. Thankfully, I guess, it was just at my tolerance so I could still eat it without being in pain, though I was aware of a bit of discomfort. Oh well.

That's all for the food, but I still have some photos to share if you don't mind indulging me. The reason I went up there in the first place - DINOSAURS! I don't know why a random shopping centre up north was gifted with this display, but it was worth the drive. Thanks to the podcast See Jurassic Right, I have recently awoken my latent love of dinosaurs (they are super cool) and enjoyment of the Jurassic Park franchise. Most of the dinos were animatronic, which was cool! Anyway, here are some photos of dinos. Otherwise just keep on scrolling until you get to the cat photo at the end of the post.

Finally, I got to hug Blue! Blue was very huggable. Behold this rare photo of me.

Thanks for taking this short dino interlude in our month of food!

Sahara

Seriously, dinosaurs and cats have a lot in common. Sahara certainly would have made an excellent velociraptor, but the snuggly kind. Here she is in her favourite basket bed, thinking about what an awesome predator she is. Myself, I am more the stegosaurus kind (they are my favourite dinos). A large herbivore, that is me.

  1. Some people are so used to really spicy food they'll tell you it's not spicy when it is. Been there. At a certain point in my life ordinary cheese pizza felt like it set my mouth on fire because the marinara seemed SO SPICY. My entire family looked at me like I'd lost my mind, but my doctor had said "no spices" for about six months and then everything tasted so overpowering!

This is why I'm pretty sure the "bland" foods of 1950s America might not have tasted so bland to the people who made them.

    1. Yes. I know some people are all about loads of spicy or loads of salt, but then I don't know how they taste anything other than those things. What they consider bland, I find quite delightful!

  2. It's so hard to gauge spice, I agree that people who are used to spicy foods will feel spice differently. It looks great though and hooray for Dinos! I love dinosaurs and these pictures are awesome! That is a great pic of you!! Such a sweet picture of Sahara! <3

    1. Steggos are my favourite dinosaur! So I am so glad they had one, even if it was on the mini side.
