Eating Out: Brisbane Vegan Markets March 2019

After a couple of months away, March found me back at the Brisbane Vegan Markets. It was more a matter of circumstance, as I was dropping off some things for a bake sale at the Cruelty Free Shop nearby. So I figured I may as well pop in. Plus Green Street Foods were back after a lengthy absence, and with new owners, so I was picking up some of their mac and cheese for a friend who had had surgery. No photo of that, because I got them to put it in a reusable plastic container since I was taking it away and it wasn't pretty.

As for me, I had just completed a super sweaty yoga class, and it was really hot, so I was happy to grab an icy cold strawberry cashew milk from Nutsy. After you finish, you can take the bottles back and they will recycle and reuse them, which I love.

Ice cream for breakfast seemed like the perfect way to cool down, so I picked up the I Should Coco easter special. Their amazing soft serve with brownie chunks, chocolate sauce (instead of caramel), and a chocolate bunny.

I was starting to feel like something savoury, so I tried out new to me stall Vegetabelle. This stall had been at the West End Markets (a weekly non-vegan market in a park in West End, but that has vegan stuff there) for ages, but it has been a long time since I've been to those markets. But they have recently started coming to the Brisbane Vegan Markets. I got a lovely Sweet Potato Noodle bowl with Pumpkin and peanut curry sauce.

See that blue bowl? The markets had a little station where they had reusable bowls, plates, and cutlery for people to use, and a washing up station for when were finished. How cool is that? I also got a cherry crumble pie from Vegetabelle, which I ate later that afternoon. Unfortunately, while the cherry filling was great, the gluten free crust was now. I ended up just scooping out the cherries.

My final stop was to pick up some treats from OMG Donuts, a vegan and gluten free doughnut stall. Although gluten free, these doughnuts don't taste like it. They are exceptional! They make them fresh, and then roll them in the sugar coating of your choice. I had traditional cinnamon, one with strawberry, and one with apple. So good.

It was a hot hot day, and I was exhausted after yoga and markets. Not to mention sweaty. However, as/if the weather starts to cool down, we will start popping into the markets again.

Eve


Eve is a very shy girl who lives at the clinic. You won't ever see her if you pop in, she isn't the sort of cat to be down by the counter, she prefers to spend her days upstairs and away from the people.

  1. Oh, my gosh. Everything here looks so good - especially those donuts. I think I need to try making my own strawberry milk since it may be a while until I get to Brisbane!

  2. OMG Eve looks positively gorgeous. I feel her on the shyness, she may be my spirit animal.

    Everything you ate looks so delicious. I'm particularly eyeing that amazing looking ice cream! The pie looks great, it's too bad the crust was disappointing and omg those doughnuts!!!
