Vegan MoFo 2014 #1: Robin Robertson Rocks

I know it may still be the 31st of August in some parts of the world, but here in Australia it is the first of September so we have declared MoFo officially open!

Something exciting happened to me last week. I realised that the vet conference I was planning on going to in the US next year was just a few days after VidaVeganCon III, which meant that I could go to both. For those who don't know, VVC is an amazing vegan blogger conference. In previous years when I had been in the US for a vet conference, I had always missed out on VVC by a couple of weeks, but not next year! I have bought my ticket, I am going to Austin!

VVC is of course full of amazing food, people and experiences, but it is at it's heart a conference for bloggers. I am a blogger, but not a very consistent one. So I have decided to just plunge back in with the full immersion program, otherwise known as Vegan MoFo. For the month of September I will be posting a minimum of 20 times (I hope!). And I want to take my blog back to where it started, with trusty recipe round ups from cookbooks. I still have my 2013 Seattle trip to blog, but that can come later.

My theme for this year's Mofo is 'Robin Robertson Rocks'. Robin is one of my favourite cookbook authors, and has brought out so many cookbooks that she could fill a bookcase on her own! As well as being an awesome recipe creator, Robin is also a devoted cat lady (tick) and has excellent taste in TV shows (Battlestar Galactica, for example).

I have a lot of Robin's books (though still not all!) and have blogged through several of them quite a bit, and this month I will be sharing recipe reviews from all of her books that I own, from old faithfuls (Vegan Planet) to new favourites (More Quick Fix Vegan), including:

  • Vegan Planet (I have both editions)
  • 1000 Vegan Recipes
  • Vegan On The Cheap
  • Party Vegan
  • Nut Butter Universe
  • Fresh From The Vegetarian Slow Cooker
  • Fresh From The Vegan Slow Cooker
  • Quick Fix Vegetarian
  • Quick Fix Vegan
  • More Quick Fix Vegan
  • One Dish Vegan

And that isn't even all of her cookbooks!

To find out more about Robin, her books, her mastery of cooking cauliflower, her love of Bánh mì and her amazing feline family, you can visit her website.

Cute Kitty Photo of the Post

And of course I will be sharing cute kitty photos with you every single post, because what is life without cats?

Sometimes I am lucky enough to get both Dim Sim and Sahara in the same photo. These are my beautiful girls.

See you back here next time for lots and lots of food photos!

  1. Oh wow lucky you and the conf! I'm properly jealous. I love your theme because Robin has great books but I don't use them as often as I should. I have loads of recipes bookmarked but I have waaay too many cookbooks and bookmarked recipes on my computer. Very much looking forward to your MoFo posts :)

  2. Ooh, excellent theme! I love Robin's books (the ones I've gotten, anyway) and her skillet cornbread is my favouritest. Plus cute cats.

  3. I don't have any of her books so this will be a great way to introduce me to them! That's fantastic that you're getting to go to Vida Con! I'd love to go someday.

  4. Great theme! I don't use my copy of 1000 vegan recipes nearly enough.

  5. I'm glad you're doing Vegan Mofo - I love your recipe round up posts! I have 3 Robin Robertson cookbooks (1000 Vegan Recipes, Vegan Fire and Spice and The Sacred Kitchen). I'm sure you'll have inspired me to order a few more by the end of September! Nut Butter Universe is calling particularly loudly.....
