Eating Out: i like ramen

I've posted about vegan ramen restaurant i like ramen a few times before, but I have been back a few times since. An Instagram friend was visiting Brisbane a few months ago, so we were finally able to meet up (always exciting the meet internet friends face to face!) and she was keen to try here.

We got a few of the starters to share, as well as our ramens. We shared some Sticky Eggplant, fried eggplant in sweet and sour sauce, and some Garlic Soy Asian Greens. The greens were lovely, as greens always are. The eggplant was very deep fried for me, but I did like the flavour of the sauce, and the eggplant itself was good. I was glad I was sharing though, as I would have struggled to eat a whole serve.

We also got the Roasted Potatoes with Kimchi. I know what you are thinking, wait, kimchi is spicy Susan! You don't do spicy! I sure don't. This was mostly for my friend, but I did also pick out some of the non-kimchi-adjacent potatoes at they were good. I'd like a bowl of kinchi-free roasted potatoes!

Now, onto the ramen. I got the Chick'n White Miso Ramen (ramen noodles served in our delicious house made chick’n white miso broth, chick’n strips (or tofu for gf option) and seasoned broccoli - topped with chopped spring onions, fresh sprouts, fried shallots, roasted seaweed, chilli threads and sesame), minus the chilli threads. Apparently this is their most popular ramen, but I was disappointed. The broth just was lacking for me, and I didn't love their chick'n (not sure what they use). This is my least favourite of all the ramens that I have tried from here.

My friend made good ordering decisions, and got the Tonkotsu Ramen (rich and creamy broth served with yellow ramen noodles, topped with confit cherry tomatoes, marinated bamboo shoots (or broccoli for gf), spring onions, sprouts, roasted nori, sesame and chilli threads), without the spring onion. She loved it, and I tried a bit of the broth and it was delicious. I definitely wished I had ordered it instead. (Spoiler alert, I have since then, but you will have to wait for a future post to hear about that!)

Eating Out: i like ramen (plus art, dinosaurs, bubble tea, and Puffs)

Vegan ramen restaurant i like ramen is a place I have eaten at a number of times before. They started as a Gold Coast pop up, then a Brisbane pop up, then moved to a Brisbane and Gold Coast restaurant, then just a Brisbane restaurant. They have recently closed their Brisbane restaurant, with plans to re-open a restaurant down at the Gold Coast. However, I did have a couple of visits before they closed, which let me round out my menu experiences with them. Always a good thing to feel like you haven't missed out on trying something you really wanted to! Both these visits coincided with other reasons for being in the area, so I will share a bit about those fun adventures as well.

I went after work one Saturday afternoon, for an early dinner and to do a few other things in the area. First up, I wanted to go and see a small art exhibition put on by Cute Girls Art Club at a nearby bar. It was really nice, with lots of cute art, often with a witchy theme (which I love). There were a lot of gorgeous pieces, but I was especially taken by this sweet black cat painting.

Art at Cute Girls Art Club

Then it was on to dinner! The last time I had been, I was disappointed with my Chick'n and White Miso Ramen, and envious of my friend's Tokotsu Ramen. This time, I finally got a delicious bowl of Tonkotsu all to myself! And it was outstanding. Yellow ramen noodles, confit cherry tomatoes, marinated bamboo shoots, spring onion, sprouts, nori, and sesame seeds in a rich and creamy broth. It was so good! The confit cherry tomatoes were out of this world!

Afterwards, I headed out to B Lucky & Sons Arcade and Bar, just a short walk away. I had seen someone post an IG story of themselves there, and I spied a Jurassic Park game in the background! It is a bit fancy, you have to walk through an area where you have to buy and load a card with money so you can play the games. I was a bit nervous at first, I am used to eating out on my own, going to galleries and movies and things on my own, but an arcade seems like a group activity. But then I thought, meh, I wanna play the dino game, so I did. Set after the events of JP3, it foreshadows the events of JWFK as you have to rescue dinos off the island before a volcano erupts. Key word rescue, I didn't want to be killing. I chose the T Rex event, but sadly even though I did finally rescue the T Rex, they make you shoot a lot of other dinos in the process. They claim it is a tranquilizer gun, but at various times I had grenades or ice bombs and you saw them blow apart! Oh no! Sadness! Lies!

Jurassic World Arcade at B Lucky and Sons

They have some fun drinks there, including some non alcoholic bubble teas. They also have a vegan pizza there, it looks spicy, but I had already eaten something delicious and non-spicy. But I did get the Sweet Melon Bubble Tea - watermelon and Vanilla syrup shaken with peach tea, coconut jellies and fruit pearls. It was sweet and yummy, but had so much ice in it that the peals and jellies all got trapped underneath, and it was quite the tactical exercise to get them out using only a straw.

But enough random stuff, back to the food. The next (and, unbeknown to me final) time I was at i like ramen, I was there for a pre-show dinner with my friend Amy. We started off by sharing some of the Panko Mushrooms - crumbed mushroom pieces in sour cream and onion seasoning, served with aioli. I have had this before, and it is always good.

Panko Mushrooms at i like ramen

Amy kept the mushroom theme going with the Mushroom Ramen (shiitake and soy mushroom broth with ramen, shiitake and king oyster mushrooms, spring onions, shallots, nori and sesame seeds) with some tofu added.

I was tempted to get the Tonkotsu again, though decided to try the Mean Green. I hadn't tried it before, and I was under the weather so getting lots of greens seemed like a wise decision. It had spinach ramen with a clear vegetable broth, pak choy, wakame, seared broccoli, spring onion, sprouts, sesame, nori, and I added some tofu as well. This was delicious, and exactly what I needed.

The play we saw wass Puffs the Play, which is honestly the best play I have ever seen. And if you ever get a chance to see it, see it a million times!

Unlike Dim Sim and (especially) Sahara, Gizmo was not much of a tree climber. So I don't have a photo of her in the tree from when we lived in Sydney. But I do have this sweet photo of her posing in the garden.

Eating Out: I Like Ramen

I Like Ramen started as a weekly vegan pop-up down the coast, then got a permanent little kiosk at Love Child Miami (which I have visited once), then a pop-up in Brisbane, and finally its own permanent vegan venue. I visited one Saturday evening with some friends to check it out.

We started out sharing the Panko Mushrooms with a sour cream and garlic seasoning and aioli. I couldn't taste the seasoning much, but the mushrooms were crispy and tasty, though I wish there had been just a bit more aioli.

Panko Mushrooms at i like ramen

Also on the small plates menu, Agedashi Tofu. This was very tasty, but it was not agadashi tofu. The shiitake dashi was quite tart, and not at all like a traditional agadeshi broth. Given all the other food we ordered, I was worried that I wouldn't have room for this, but it was quite a small serving, only three pieces.

Agedashi Tofu at i like ramen

My friend ordered both of their bao options - Panko Mushroom and Kimchi Bao (with panko crumbed mushroom, bok choy, kimchi, and sriracha aioli) and the Holy 'Duck' Bao (crispy "duck" glazed in plum sauce, cucumber, mint and pickled daikon slaw with chilli lime dressing and pomegranate mayo). I also had the duck bao, but without the chilli lime dressing. This was really nice, though it came with a lot of raw onion that I picked out.

2018-11-24 16.59.32

But what about the Ramen, you ask? Never fear! I ordered the Cauliflower and Onion Ramen (activated charcoal noodles served in a cauliflower and onion broth with crispy beetroot, charred corn and cauliflower), because you know I could not say know to the amusing charcoal noodles. This was really tasty, though the crispy beetroot gets soggy very fast in all the steam and broth.

Cauliflower and Onion Ramen at i like ramen

My friend had the Mean Green Ramen - spinach ramen noodles served in a clear vegetable broth with fresh bok choy and wakame, finished with seared broccoli, chopped spring onions, fresh sprouts, fried shallots, roasted seaweed, chilli threads and sesame. Green noodles! Very fun, and also gives you a good dose of green.

Mean Green Ramen at i like ramen

I'm keen to go back at some point to try some of their other small plates, as well as some other ramens. Their Chick'n White Miso Ramen is meant to be the most popular.

They didn't have any sweets there when we visited (now they have desserts on the menu, more reason to go back!), so we visited Doughlord afterwards for some vegan cookie dough scoops. I got Maple and Hazelnut.

Eating Out: Love Child Miami

I hadn't planned on doing much of anything on Sunday beyond yoga. I worked on Saturday, so it was my one day weekend, and I didn't feel much motivation. I knew that Sunday was the opening day of a new vegan food mall, but the energy to organise anything or drive was a bit much. But then I got a message from some friends... they had hired a car and were going down to it, they would pick me up and drive. All I had to do was show up, and eat. And those are two things I'm really good at!

So, the place. The brand new The LC Miami. For sometime now I knew that Love Child was organising vegan laneway markets at the Gold Coast, though I'd never been. However, they have embarked on a new project. A two storey vegan destination - clothing, shoes, and accessories on the top, and several vegan food locations down the bottom. While the top level wasn't open when we were there, the food places were in full swing!

I don't have any photos of the place itself, it was pretty crowded being the opening day. It is on the Gold Coast Highway, but tucked in between some other businesses. Look out for the two palm trees that mark the entrance! There is a small patio area out the front, which funnels into an indoor corridor lined with six vegan food businesses, and then opens out to an outdoor lawn area with tables, chairs, and umbrellas. Thankfully it was a lovey day when we were there, and we were able to get a table with lots of shade for my fair skin.

I wasn't sure how the restaurants were going to be... the style is like a food court - but in the best possible way! You order at the counters, so you can take your food back to your table. This is great, as it means that you can sample something from many places. We sampled something from everywhere! I know you are all waiting to hear about what the food places were, so let's get to it!

by Gigi: I was so excited for this. Regular readers will know that my favourite pizza place is Gigi in Sydney. And they have opened up an outlet here!!! OK, so it is not quite the same. This version is called by Gigi, and there are a few key differences. Firstly, the crusts seem to all be gluten free. They are amazing for gluten free crusts, I wouldn't actually have known, but they are not quite the same as the big puffy crusts that come from the original store. They also put vegan cheese on everything, which the Sydney store does not do. Not too much, but it was a bit odd considering what I was used to. But, they sell pizza by the slice or the half slice, so you can try lots of flavours if you want, or leave room for the other restaurants. I got a slice of my favourite from the Sydney store - the Melanzane. It wasn't as life changing as the one from the Sydney store, but was still a fine slice of pizza. My friends got a half slice of this, and a full slice of the mushroom and olives.

They also have a gelato bar. I love ice cream, so I was excited for this! It is not what I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it. They have three flavours, which I assume will change depending on season, that are based on fruit and herbs. I got the Arancione, a beautiful fuchsia mix of rockmelon, beetroot, and rosemary. It was lovely. My friends had the refreshing Verde - apple, celery, and mint. They third flavour was Rosso, which had strawberries, cherry tomatoes, and rocket. So unique!

Arancione and Verde Gelato by Gigi at Love Child Miami

Flora by Greenhouse: Greenhouse Canteen & Bar has had a long association with Love Child. They have two pretty fancy restaurants down at the Gold Coast, but now they also have Flora. Flora is a cafe style deli, with breakfast and lunch options. They had a range of sandwiches, salads, quiches, and hot dishes when were were there. I couldn't resist getting the Reuben Sandwich with a side of Mac and Cheese. The sandwich was GIANT! I only ate half of it in the end, and brought the other half home to take to work for lunch yesterday (it was still good as leftovers). The reuben was tasty, but not quite a reuben. It had a very strong mustard taste, and the corned seitan was sliced a bit too thick. It was still a great sandwich. The mac and cheese was very creamy, but could have had a lot more cheesy flavour to it.

i like ramen: i like ramen has long had a pop-up vegan ramen shop down at the coast, but I was never able to get there. I was really happy when they announced they were having a permanent location! I got the mushroom ramen, hold the chili. It was really nice, a great savoury broth and lots of mushrooms. Really satisfying!

Burgers vs Kebabs: BvK is a shop that sells, you guessed it, burgers and kebabs. We were already full of ramen, sandwiches, and pizza by this point. But, we wanted to try at least one thing from every place. They have quite a nice looking burger selection, but we went for something small and shareable with the Vegan Poutine. We watched them get the freshly cooked chips, top it with some gravy out of a tub, sprinkle on some cold grated cheese, and then... put it in the microwave. Our hearts sank. As expected, it was pretty soggy. It tasted OK though, the gravy was nice and savoury, though the chips were a tad salty.

Flour of Life: If you are worried about dessert, and not in the mood for fruity gelato, never fear. Flour of Life has an outlet here as well. They are full of doughnuts, tarts, and other delicious treats, as well as savoury pies, sandwiches, and sausage rolls. Or they normally were. By the time we were leaving, and picking up some take home treats for our final stop of our eating tour, they were sold out of a lot. Which is fantastic! In fact, a lot of places sold out before the end of the night, there was so much interest. Anyway, thankfully they still had one of my beloved strawberry flans that I picked up to take home.

So, there we have it. For research and science and blog posting, I ate until I was very full! The hardships of being a vegan, the struggle... so real! I'd definitely go back here again, or pick up something to takeaway if I was down there for other reasons. There is a nice mix of food, and the atmosphere is lovely (though if it was raining or a super hot, sunny day, that would be less good). I will be interested to see when the upstairs opens as well!

Melbourne OCC 2017: Part 2

Thankfully Sunday was a slightly shorter day compared to the Saturday. So let's talk about laughable venue food. I started off in my hotel eating oats, and then went to the venue for the 'catered vegan breakfast' of tiniest fruit salad ever. In what world do they think this is breakfast for anyone?

Fruit Salad from MCEC

They had three vegan options you could choose for lunch, two of which were the same as last year. The sad, soggy, oily veggie wrap and the tiny serve of rice paper rolls. This time I ordered the veggie gyoza for both days... at least it would be hot, right? Oh, silly Susan. It was lukewarm, dried out gyoza with a drizzle of stuck on sauce and sesame seeds. At least the taste was not offensive. And at least I had packed my noodle cups and snack bars and fruit!

Gyoza from MCEC

Anyway, thankfully I planned ahead and never was hungry throughout the day. And after it was over, I went and met Jess again for some ramen. I love ramen! We went to try Mr Ramen San in the city, which had two vegan options. We wanted a little started, and asked if the natto with mushrooms was vegan. Neither of us had tried natto before, but we were both keen. We were told that it was, but they kind of suggested maybe we wouldn't like it, which was funny and only strengthened our resolve! And of course it was fine. Sure, a little bit slimy, but it tasted nice. And it was mixed through with some mushroom chunks. It was good!

Natto and Mushrooms from Mr Ramen San

There are two vegetarian ramens, which are vegan without the egg. And we ordered both. They both have the same broth, but one was a 'charsu' ramen (with vegetarian Roast 'pork', leeks, spring onion, bamboo, Wood ear mushroom and seaweed), and the other is tofu ramen (with tofu, spring onion, beansprout, corn, pickled vegetables and seaweed). We swapped some of the toppings between the bowls so we could try everything. They were hot and tasty!

On the way home I got another Soy Matcha Latte from Starbucks, but I got a larger one. Which was yummy, but then made me pee one million times overnight, so I have to remember that for the future! Also of note, they had both vegan Vitasoy Cafe soy milk there, and the non-vegan Vitasoy with Vitamin D, he started making it with that one, so thankfully I saw and stopped him. But double check on the soy milk you get there!

Monday morning was a team breakfast at a hotel buffet, which is not a good time for vegans. But it is a nice time for seeing everyone. So I went out for breakfast first and then met everyone there. I went to Lord of the Fries for a Tibetan Burger (tofu egg, vegan cheese, mustard and mayo) with bacon added and a hashbrown. I also stopped by Broad Bean again and got a turmeric latte, and I had a juice left. The burger was OK, but it is certainly no Smith & Deli Egg McMartinez. The bun was very soft and oddly sweet. But still, it was a filling breakfast.

Tibetan Burger with Bacon, Hashbrown, Turmeric Latte, juice from LoTF and BroadBean

We got picked up and taken to the airport, only to be hit with a three hour delay (I hate Jetstar so much). So I walked around, we chatted, and I got some lunch. There are a few options at Melbourne airport, but you would think there would be more. The best options are in the Jetstar terminal, at least. I ended up getting a Mucho Veggie Burrito Bowl from Salsa, which was nice and fresh option. It had lime and coriander rice, zucchini and broccoli, black beans, corn salsa, and guacamole. It is also meant to have onions and capsicum and a chipotle salsa, but I asked for them to be left off. Still had a slightly uncomfortable hit of chilli, though. I also grabbed a sushi roll for a plane snack.

Burrito Bowl from Salsa's at Melbourne Airport

I was pretty exhausted, and glad to be home to my sweet Dim Sim! Speaking of sweet, I picked up some chocolate goodies to bring home with me. The Loving Earth chocolates were on sale and Broad Bean. They are the only raw chocolate brand that I like, and these flavours are SO GOOD. Especially the berry one. I also stumbled across a little shop that had every single flavour of Seed & Bean! I started piling up all the vegan ones, before reminding myself that they were $8 a black, so I pared it back to three. My favourite sea salt, the mandarin and ginger (which was yummy), and the intriguing fennel (which I am still yet to try). I do have some regrets about not getting Orange & Thyme. As a bonus, all this chocolate is on the Food Empowerment Project Approved Chocolate List, so I can enjoy these without worrying that they were made using child slavery!

Chocolate Haul

And finally, let's talk about Alyson Hannigan. Buffy is the show of my heart, my forever show, a love of my life. And Willow is without a doubt the best part of Buffy. I got to spend a lot of time near Alyson Hannigan while I was looking after Tom, which was lovely. I am pretty awkward, so I liked not having to talk to her a lot because - oh my god - fan girl alert. At the very end of the con, I did manage to babble a brief thank you for being Willow at her, and then she was off so I was able to slink away. Of course I had a photo with her! Behold!

Eating In: Ramen, stir-fries, platters, bentos

I live! Thank you for your kind words pre-surgery. I was just in hospital for the morning, and have been spending my time since recovering at home. I had a laparoscopy, and my tummy has been a bit tender! But I am able to now sit at my desk for my laptop for a little bit now, hurrah! I had a lovely time catching up on everyone's blog posts, and now for a little blog post of my own.

In an effort to support local restaurants, we have been getting delivery once or twice a week for the last few months. Which is why these posts are all about eating in. Although restaurants are open with COVID safe plans in place, I still haven't been ready to eat out yet. Thankfully I have lots of deliveries to share with you in this spot over the coming weeks. I spent a lot of time searching around looking for places with vegan options to find some fun new places to add into our rotation. I find that searching for vegan doesn't bring up all the results, and if you search for vegan friendly a lot of the places have nothing at all vegan on offer! So checking out individual restaurants is time consuming, but has been rewarding.

Like finding a place with vegan ramen! Ramen Danbo offers a delicious vegan miso ramen option, as well as vegan gyoza.

Vegetarian Ramen and Vegan Gyoza from Ramen Danbo Sunnybank Hills

I have posted a few times before about local restaurant Superoll, my favourite was the Tofu Hustle. Little did I know that this Tofu Hustle would be my last ever. They unexpectedly sold the business, and now it is a non-vegan Thai restaurant. They do have a vegetarian/vegan section of their menu but as they do not deliver I haven't tried anything. Plus I'm still heartbroken over the loss of Tofu Hustle and a totally vegetarian/vegan restaurant.

Tofu Hustle from Superoll

My parents enjoy ordering non-vegan dishes from local (as in right up the road from us) restaurant Michael's Oriental, and they started offering a vegan menu a while ago. I have posted about it previously. I am a bit ambivalent about ordering from here, they don't have any non-spicy tofu dishes for me to order and you know how much I just want to order tofu. But they have a few things that are OK. The Cashew Chicken is fairly basic, but it is nice enough.

Cashew Chicken and Vegetables from Michael's Oriental

Another new to me place was Pazar Grill, a Mediterranean restaurant. I got the Vegan Platter, that was meant to come with falafel, dolma, dip (I chose hummus), salad (I chose kale and cous cous), and a side (I chose chips because always choose potato). I realised when I got it that they had substituted the dolma for some sort of fritter, which I ate. But then I checked their website and realised that the fritters were vegetarian, not vegan! Eeep! I sent them a nice email just letting them know about it, and they responded to say that they were having issues with their dolma suppliers, but that they had made the fritters vegan for the vegan platter. So that was nice and good!

'Vegan' Platter from Pazar Mediterranean Grill

A lot of the places we order from only deliver through Uber Eats, which I know has some significant issues with it. But one place that orgasnises its own delivery is Kuan Yin Home Delivery. I've posted about it before, as well as the previous brick and mortar restaurant they had that I used to love so much. But I had sort of forgotten about the home delivery until it came to isolation time. I was thrilled when I googled to see that they were still running! Of course I got my favourite order for them for this first time - pan-fried dumplings (they do the best dumplings) and sweet and sour pork bento.

Melbourne Part 4

My final Melbourne post! The Monday we spent in Melbourne was my 35th birthday. We started with a celebratory breakfast at Matcha MylkBar in St Kilda (also my first time going to St Kilda). Matcha MylkBar has a long list of very silly sounding hot drinks. I would have loved to try so many of them, but I only had room for two. I started with a warming Apple Pie Latte (applie cider, apple pie spice, cinnamon).

Apple Pie Latte at Matcha Mylkbar

Ashleigh got the Potato Leek Rosti with Asparagus, Truffle Hollondaise and a Vegan Poached Egg. It was meant to have their new vegan fried egg, but they had sold out. She also got some Almond Fetta on the side.

Potato leek rosti, asparagus, corn truffle hollandaise, poached vegan egg, almond fetta at Matcha Mylkbar

I ordered the Heirloom Tomatoes, Fresh Avocado, Almond Fetta, Kale Pesto and Crispy Kale on toast, with a side of potato leek rosti and shiitake bacon. I know, I know. The vegan ordered essentially a fancy avocado toast. Also a vegan egg. The vegan egg I ordered cautiously as it is coconut based (and sweet potato), but after talking with them it transpired that it is more a coconut and almond milk blend, no heavy coconut oil or cream. So it didn't make me sick. It was pretty good in terms of texture, but taste wise is nothing like an egg. Definitely more a sweet thing (which they mention). Everything else was pretty nice, though the avocado was on top of everything and not on the actual toast! I had to move off the tomatoes to spread it onto the toast. I will make a mention of the toast, which was their own GF bread made from cactus flour. It was sensational!

I finished off breakfast with a sweet treat in my favourite colour - pink! They had cruffins (croissants baked into muffin shapes and filled), and I picked a strawberry filled one. It was no way at the level of the Smith & Deli croissants, but it was pretty nice! I also had a Beetroot Latte with it (beetroot juice, dehydrated beetroot, blood orange, chocolate), which was earthy and nice.

I would have loved to have tried some of their other lattes, like the carrot cake latte and the charcoal latte. And looking at their menu now I see they have a new latte that has peanut butter and purple sweet potato in it... can someone send me one of those immediately please?

After brunch, we went for a little stroll around the St Kilda waterfront.

Luna Park

St Kilda

We headed back into the city and checked out some of the free exhibitions at ACMI, as well as hitting up some of the cute geek shops in the city for Neko Atsume and Tokidoki Unicorno collectibles. For lunch I went to one of my favourite places, Supercharger. You can pick from a whole selection of different components to put together your lunch. I don't really remember what I picked, but it was tasty.

Supercharger lunch

After this we had planned on going to the Art Gallery (which had so many cool things going on), however I was given the birthday gift of a crushing headache. So what actually happened is I had to go back to our room and lie down in the dark for two hours until it lifted. Oh well. At least it lifted in time for me to enjoy the Smith & Deli Strawberry & Cream tart I had been saving for my birthday.

For dinner we met up with my friend Jess and my brother (who was also visiting Melbourne) at Neko Neko, a Japanese place that has several vegan options. I love Japanese! Plus they have homemade soy iced matcha in adorable bottles!

Iced soy matcha at Neko Neko

We ordered everything to share. Starting with the Eggplant Dengaku and the Tofu Agedashi, both of which came with a fun plate with several different little mounds of different tasty things. They were both great, but the dengaku sauce was particularly amazing.

Eggplant Dengaku at Neko Neko

We also shared the vegan ramen. They make their own vegan ramen noodles, however as two of our party were GF we got it with rice noodles. I suspect it would have been better with the actual ramen noodles (also in other photos I have seen the gluten full vegan ramen seemed to have additional toppings), but it was still good.

Vegan Ramen at Neko Neko

Finally we got the Raw Okinomiyaki. This really in no way resembled okonomiyaki, but was more like a delicious (if rich) nut cheese terrine.

Raw Vegan Okinomiyaki at Neko Neko

Afterwards we walked to Casa del Gelato for some dairy free sorbets.

Tuesday was our final morning in Melbourne, and we of course headed back to Smith & Deli one last time. This time I got the Egg McMartinez for breakfast. It has a tofu egg, bacon and cheese and chose aioli and BBQ sauce to go on it.

Egg McMartinez from Smith & Deli

I had hoped to stock up on a lot of yummies to take home with me, but unfortunately they didn't have much. They are closed on Sunday and Monday, and it was early on Tuesday morning, so there wouldn't have been enough time for everything to be fully stocked I guess. I did get a mulled wine brownie to take home.

Then we headed off to the airport. On the way, we stopped at Lord of the Fries to get a second breakfast. I got the mini Tibet (tofu egg, cheese, mayo, mustard) with a hash brown. It was adequate.

On the flight home I was given another vegan meal, this time a warm curry wrap, though I didn't take a photo. Then it was home and into the furry embraces of my living kitties. I always love visiting Melbourne, the food is just so good. I am not sure when I will get a chance to get there again, but I will enjoy the memory of this trip for a long time to come.

Back in my second Melbourne post I shared a photo of Morgan, one of the cats that Leigh was looking after. This is Buster, the other cat. Super silly and fun.
